![]() In fact, I recommend re-watching all three, in order, before going to this one. Having only a 15,000 budget, the film profited 193. If you haven't seen PA1, PA2 AND PA3, see those before you go see this one. The Paranormal Activity franchise started in 2009 as a super low-budget film and blossomed into one of the most profitable movies of all time. I'm gonna recommend this to anyone who likes the PA movies, and go as far as to say see in the theater if you fall in that group. I didn't find myself hating on the medium in this one though. I have a love/hate relationship with found footage movies. Whether it's scary or not is highly subjective, but it has its moments. It's also by far the funniest installment of the PA series, which I found refreshing. That's the same formula that made PA2 and PA3 good, and also partially explains why PA4 sucked. Frankly, it IS the true 4th installment and you can just erase the official PA4 from memory: this movie continues/advances the overarching PA storyline and is directly tied to PA1, PA2 and PA3. But you know what? This PA "spin-off" really isn't that bad and is highly enjoyable for PA fanboys. And when I heard about this spin-off, it just sounded terrible and made me wonder if this franchise is going terribad like the Saw series. She's confused, and walks at them, so they shoot her.PA4 was pretty bad which really lowered expectations for this movie and rest of this franchise. The cops come up the stairs, and pull their weapons, shouting at her to drop the knife. Katie, in a confused state, looks around and stands up, still holding the knife. At this point, the light in the closet down the hall briefly turns on, and then off, showing that the demon had left Katie and returned to the attic where it lived. A short while later, the police barge in downstairs. She sits beside the bed and begins to rock back and forth. After another minute, Katie returns to the bedroom, covered in blood, and holding the butchers knife that Micah had been using earlier in the film. The downstairs door opens, and the friend finds Micah's body (this is all off screen, we're still looking at Katie by the bed), screams and runs off. You hear a scuffle, Micah shouts 'Katie, no', and then silence. At that point, the friend arrives and you can hear her knocking and calling out. Again, the film goes into timelapse, with Katie doing absolutely nothing except rocking until the early evening. Katie is still sitting by the bed, rocking, while the voice of their friend (forget her name), asks if theres anyone there, and then says she'll be coming around that evening. It used to be, when things went bump in the night, you'd have to frantically try to convince your loved ones it was something otherworldly based on your word. As the sun rises, the phone rings downstairs, and the answering machine gets it. The film goes into time lapse, and shows that she does this four a numbr of hours. After another minute, Katie returns to the bedroom, covered in blood, and holding the butcher's knife that Micah had been using earlier in the film. You hear a scuffle, Micah shouts "Katie, no!", and then silence. After a minute or two, from somewhere down stairs, she screams in an unholy way, with some other voice, like a monster, echoing the sound. On the final night, Katie rose and left the bedroom. Here is the ending of the version I originally saw: I had no idea if what I was watching was real or not, and in the chat log on the livestream it seemed that I was not the only one who initially thought it was real. Now, a new family is about to fall prey to nighttime. I started watching it one night after following a link from 4chan's /x/ board, and I think it was already about 20 minutes in. It has been five years since Katie (Katie Featherston) murdered her sister and disappeared with her infant nephew, Hunter, in tow. However, the first version I saw had a wonderful, terrifying, and satisfying ending. That looked so GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY! I would have ended it without the bad CGI demon faceĪs you may know, there are 3 endings to the first movie, and the one you've described is the theatrical release and "canon" version. The thing that nearly killed it, was the last split second "demon face" as the movie ended.
